Thames Valley I Swim to Survive Program - July 2025

$250 to The City of London, Ontario, offers the Lifesaving Society's Swim for Life program as its official learn-to-swim program at its aquatic facilities.
This program is designed to teach children essential swimming and lifesaving skills, with structured levels for different age groups, including Parent and Tot (for children 4 months to 3 years), Preschool (for children 3 to 5 years), and Swimmer (for children 5 years and older).
The program incorporates Lifesaving Society Water Smart® education to promote water safety.
While the program is referred to as "Swim for Life" by the City, it aligns with the broader national "Swim to Survive" initiative promoted by the Lifesaving Society Canada, which aims to reduce drowning rates through comprehensive training.

This Festival will promote local (SWO) emerging and established artists by providing a platform for them to share their art and providing them an opportunity to network and make connections within the artist community.

A huge thank you to the members of Port Stanley Lions Club for their continued support of #ProjectTinyHope. We were honoured to join the club at their Community BBQ this past weekend where they presented a generous $5,000 donation towards our housing project, now totaling an overall contribution of $9,500 over the last two years. Your support truly makes a difference.

contribute $1,000 to the Lions Home for Deaf People. The Home is a committee of Lions, Lionesses and other interested people in Ontario who believe in Helen Keller's challenge "To become the Knights of the Blind" and to work to improve the lives of people who are blind and or deaf. The gift will qualify Port Stanley Lions for two Helen Keller Awards, which are intended to honor Lions who have distinguished themselves on behalf of sight.

The Hospice of Elgin recently accepted a $125,000 donation courtesy of the cumulative fundraising efforts of the Lions clubs in Port Stanley. Members of the village Lions, Lioness and Leos clubs commemorated the gift at a cheque presentation on Dec. 3 at Port Stanley United Church.

Port Stanley Lions Club supports the Port Stanley Sailing Squadron and today contributed $500 to the PSSS sailing school for local youth.
St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation - Jul 2023

The St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation is embarking on an $8 million Transforming Tomorrow Diagnostic Imaging Campaign in support of a long-awaited MRI for the city.
It received a kick start late last month when the Port Stanley Lions and Lioness Club, presented the hospital with a $16,000 donation towards the MRI-Diagnostic Imaging Campaign.
Executive Member Dave Marr explains that the funds raised for the hospital is courtesy of their annual golf tournament, which made its return for a 13th year.

St. Thomas – Elgin General Hospital Foundation - Aug 2019

The St. Thomas – Elgin General Hospital Foundation has received a $15,000 donation from The Port Stanley Lions Club Marr Family Golf Tournament and Fish Fry. The donation in partnership with Shoppers Drug Mart at First Ave and Elm Street is the Lion’s Club’s 10th year of hosting the tournament benefiting STEGH.
President of the Lions Club and Pharmacist Owner of Shoppers Rick Nemett says they support the hospital because of how many lives it touches in the community.
Hippocampe Chairs on Main Beach - Jun 2015

Hippocampe Chairs
These allow people with reduced mobility to move around freely between changing rooms, showers, and waterfronts. They can be submerged in water to simplify access to swimming. The seat and footrest cover is made of comfortable hydrophobic foam that protects its user.
There are 2 available at the Main Beach's lifeguard tower during beach patrol hours, and available for use upon request. They are free of charge, but users are asked to provide identification.
These chairs were made possible by a generous donation from the Port Stanley Lion's Club (approximately $5,000 each).
